Chevrolet’s wildly popular pony car had debuted just two years earlier, but some significant changes showed up on the ‘69 that helped the first generation of Camaros go out with a bang. The grille was set deeper, and a pronounced “eye brow” crease spanned the sides of the Camaro. Also new were the car’s fenders, door skins, and taillights. A number of buyers opted for the best of both worlds by ordering their Camaros outfitted both with the RS appearance package and SS performance package. Standard power was the 300 hp. 350 cid. V-8. A RS/SS convertible was also chosen to pace the race at Indianapolis.
